What is a Big Bang?

A Big Bang is a type of challenge involving fics and accompanying artwork. It encourages collaboration between artists and writers in fandoms. Writers and artists will sign up to take part and will be paired to work on a story together: one writing, the other creating a piece of art for it. You can also take part in the Big Bang as a beta reader or a pinch-hitter. Beta readers read over the work for writers, checking for spelling and grammar mistakes, as well as supporting with any other aspects of the story. Pinch-hitters (writers/artists) are participants who step in last minute for someone who can no longer take part - therefore, whilst they are not always required to create work, they might have shorter deadlines if necessary.

The Recovery Big Bang specifically will not focus on a specific fandom. Participants from all fandoms are invited to take part, but to remain open-minded towards other fandoms. The story/art should revolve around the theme of 'recovery', but all the other aspects are up to you. The minimum word count will be confirmed after the interest check.

How will you contact me?

Most of our communications will be done through Discord. All participants will also receive email updates where there is action necessary.

Is this event SFW/NSFW?
This event is both SFW and NSFW. Contributors will be able to create both, but if you are under 18 you will not be allowed to collaborate on or create a NSFW piece. You will also be required to list any trigger warnings your work may contain. Due to the nature of this theme, slightly graphic topics may be discussed in general channels, but moderators will do their best to avoid these problems.

Can I participate if I already have a partner?
Yes, of course you can! Make sure both yourself and your partner fill out an application form and state that’s the case on it.

Can I participate as a writer and artist?
You can, but you should make sure you are not putting too much stress on yourself. You will still be matched with an artist/writer to create teams.

More FAQs will be answered after the interest check has closed. If you have any questions, you can contact us on Twitter or CuriousCat.

All stories and art must be new, created for this specific event. Whilst you can continue working on something you have already started, it should not be published before the posting time for this event. Your piece should be kept a secret until it is posted. Plagiarism will not be tolerated and will result in an immediate removal from the event.

You must join the Discord channel, as that is where most communication will be done.

The minimum word count for writers is 3000 words.

Artists will be required to complete one piece of art, such as digital/traditional art, mood boards, playlists or podfics.

We have a zero tolerance policy for abuse or disrespect. Hate speech or personal attacks will result in immediate removal from both the discord server and the project.

Please keep in mind that these rules are subject to change, if necessary.
